Biblical Evangelism

Evangelism is the mandate for church growth today. This course covers the biblical foundations of evangelism, conversion and regeneration, how to lead a person to a decision for Christ, age-specific techniques, team efforts, visitation, discipling new believers, and the importance of prayer in the entire process of evangelism.

Biblical Leadership

This relevant and important book will help you grasp a New Testament picture of leadership that is person-centered and team-centered. Rather than basing ministry on secular principles, the timeless biblical strategies of placing people to use their gifts in service will help you grow in self-perception, skills, and vision as a leader.

*Church of God in Christ Part I: History/Polity (Certificate Program)

This course explores the history and polity of the Church of God in Christ. The Church of God in Christ, (COGIC), is a Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in which the word of God is preached, ordinances are administered and the doctrine of sanctification or holiness is emphasized, as being essential to the salvation of mankind.

*Church of God in Christ Part II: Men and Women in Ministry

This course examines the roles that men and women have played in the history and ministry of The Church of God in Christ. It will also examine the lives of some of the key female leaders in the church and study the structure of the presidium and the structure of the Women’s Department.

Christian Ethics

For the Christian, ethics must be rooted in the absolutes revealed in God's Word to inform and nurture our moral conduct. Followers of Christ must learn to think biblically. A Christian approach to complex ethical topics in the postmodern era challenges us to identify how we relate to culture.

Creation vs Evolution

There are two very different, andtotally opposite, explanations for the origin of the Universe and the origin of life in the Universe, Creation and Evolution. Eachof these explanations is an entire world view, or philosophy of origins and destinies, of life and meaning. Evolution includes the evidence for a gradual appearance of present life over eons of time, with complex kinds of life emerging from “simpler” kinds, and ultimately from nonliving matter. Creation includes the evidence for a sudden appearance of complex life.

The creation model denies “vertical” evolution (also called “macroevolution”—the emergence of complex organisms from simple organisms), and change between kinds (such as an amoeba gradually changing into a man), but does not challenge “horizontal” evolution (also called “microevolution”—the formation of species or subspecies within created kinds, or genetic variation such as a species of birds gradually getting a smaller beak or a species of moth changing its colors over time).

Cults "What Do They Believe"

This course of study exposes the doctrinal errors of cults such as Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Christian Science, Spiritualism, etc. Designed to sharpen Bible knowledge and witnessing skills.

End-Time Prophecy

This course of study discusses how the revelation of prophecy in Scripture serves as important evidence that the Scriptures are accurate in their interpretation of the future. Because approximately half of the prophecies of the Bible have already been fulfilled in a literal way, it gives a proper intellectual basis for assuming that prophecy, yet to be fulfilled, will likewise have a literal fulfillment.

At the same time it justifies the conclusion that the Bible is inspired of and by the Holy Spirit and that prophecy which goes far beyond any scheme of man is instead a revelation by God, of that which is certain to come to pass. The fact that prophecy has been literally fulfilled serves as a guide to interpret the prophecies which are yet ahead.

Hermeneutics

This course presents the correct way to interpret the Bible and all the different ways to apply the text. This course focuses on the authority, nature, and interpretation (hermeneutics) of the Scriptures. It is designed to help students work through issues that concern the trust they place in the Bible and its interpretation.

History of Christianity

This course of study gives an overview of the history of Christianity discussing not only historical events but also theological developments down through history. The history of Christianity begins with the Apostolic period through the age of asceticism and persecution to the dominance of Augustinianism in the West with Gregory the Great. Emphasis is placed on the theological pluralism and institutional development of Christianity toward theological exclusivism and institutional rigidity in this crucial 600-year period of growth.

Homiletics/Exegesis (Evangelistic Preaching and Message preparation)

This course teaches the student how to build a format for lessons or sermons. It also teaches how to use the context as the structure of the lesson. The focus of this course is on the structure of sermons. Learning occurs through the acquisition of basic homiletical theory and skills as well as through listening to oral and written responses to sermons preached in class.

Old Testament Survey

This course is a basic overview of the Old Testament. The aim is to acquaint the student with the content, message and personal application of each book, and to study the unity of all the books in the progress of revelation and redemption.

New Testament Survey

This course is an overview of the four Gospels portraying the life of Christ. The Book of Acts is used as a historical framework for a study of the earlier New Testament letters and as introduction to its later letters and to its climax. Application of the New Testament’s teachings to our individual and corporate lives as believers is maintained throughout.

Panoramic Viewof Revelation

This fascinating depiction of the events that are about to take place upon the earth is a must read. Especially for students of prophecy and those who are prayerfully aware of the times in which we live, The Revelation Panorama will address subjects you have wondered about for years.
